Echinacea Herbal Medicine for Cold
U.S. scientists have recently discovered that taking herbs made from echinacea can both prevent a cold and recover from colds.
According to the latest issue of The Lancet Infectious Diseases, researchers at the American Diabetes University have compared Echinacea purpurea herbs with 14 commonly used cold medicines. At the same time, the effect is the best, reducing the risk of colds by 86%, and taking echinacea herbs alone can reduce the risk of colds by 58%.
Echinacea is native to North America and can be used in all parts of the plant.
Echinacea herb can be used as an immunomodulator and immunostimulant, with antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory effects.
Researchers say they don’t yet understand how the herb works in the body’s immune system and enhances its ability to fight colds.
At the same time, researchers are not clear about the long-term effects of taking the echinacea herb, and further research is needed on its safety.
